Biography

Born in Sweden of Polish-Jewish parents, Nina studied at the Royal Academy of Music, London, most recently on the Opera Course. Having gained the highest vocal Final Recital mark in her year, she was awarded the Clifton Prize for Singing and the Vice Principal’s Special Award for Notable Achievement. Nina was a recipient of the Karaviotis Scholarship, of the Miriam Licette Scholarship from the Musicians Benevolent Fund, and she was also supported by the Solti Foundation and the Josephine Baker Trust. She is currently learning with Jennifer Dakin.

 

In her early career Nina performed as a soloist with the Stockholm Youth Symphony Orchestra and in more recent years she has given solo recitals and oratorio performances around England and Sweden. These include Messiah at St Martin in the Fields and the Vivaldi Gloria at the Banqueting House in Whitehall. In the London Händel Festival Nina sang as part of their lunchtime cantata series. Under the baton of William Christie, she has sung the role of the ‘Boy Soprano’ in Händel’s L’allegro. She has also performed the B Minor Mass conducted by Trevor Pinnock.

 

Nina worked with Grange Park Opera where she covered the role of Eritea Eliogabalo. Nina has also sung Nelly Box Martha for the Opéra de Baugé. For British Youth Opera Nina sang First Nymph Euridice (Stephen Oliver). Her roles at Royal Academy Opera included: title role Semele c. late Sir Charles Mackerras and Laurence Cummings, Isifile Il Giasone c. Jane Glover.

 

Nina took part in the Solti Accademia di Bel Canto where she sang in masterclasses with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Frederica von Stade and a Samling Foundation Masterclass with Sir Thomas Allen and Roger Vignoles.

 

Recent engagements: Papagena Die Zauberflöte for de Nederlandse Opera, The Fairy Queen for English Touring Opera, Glyndebourne Chorus, a gala concert at the Bridgewater Hall as part of the Manchester Mid-day Concerts series, a lieder recital in the Julitafestivalen in Sweden, Night/Juno/Nymph/Attendant The Fairy Queen, Johanna Sweeney Todd and Despina Cosi fan tutte in new productions for De Nederlandse Reisopera

 

Current season/future plans: a recording of the song cycle Love of a Poet (Thomas Alexandrovich de Hartmann) with pianist Elan Sicroff for BASTA records, Oscar Un Ballo in Maschera for Iford Arts, cover of Dorinda Orlando for Welsh National Opera, a semi-staged version of Bach’s Coffee Cantata for the Newbury Spring Festival and London Handel Festival, Despina, Cosi fan tutte at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Despina, Cosi fan tutte for Bury Court Opera.
